In this article, we explore the thematic connections between Wings of Desire, a 1987’s movie by Wim Wenders and Peter Handke, and “O Guardador de Rebanhos”, more specifically poem VIII, by Alberto Caeiro (one of Fernando Pessoa’s heteronyms). We aim to explain in what way both works of art develop the myth of childhood by proclaiming the child as the adult’s teacher, and innocence as a way of living, thus conveying a primitivist
worldview.
