The purpose of this paper is to present the activity of the General Intendant of the Police of the Court and Realm, especially his position about the French fear. The General Intendancy of the Police, commanded by the Intendant Pina Manique, pursued for decades the French citizens in Portuguese territory, as well as it rebuked the circulation of works and
information about the ideals of the French Revolution in the end of the XVIII century. Based on other studies on the Intendance and the French fear, we investigate in the notes of Book IX and Book X of the Intendance from the first decade of XIX century, the behavior of the Portuguese people against the French after the Napoleonic invasions.
